The difference is that the Gooseneck uses a ball and coupler instead of a kingpin and pin receiver. Typically, the trailers that are most commonly used for this type of Gooseneck Hitch is a horse trailer.

What are the different types of Goosenecks?

There are three main components in a Gooseneck Hitch. The ball, the plate (if applicable) and the rails.

The ball is what attaches to the coupler on the Gooseneck Trailer.

The plate, used on the Fold Down and the Remov-A-Ball Gooseneck is what sits in the bed and has the ball protruding upwards to attach to the Gooseneck Trailer.
